New Delhi, November 10, 2023: A song advocating the significance of millets, featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has received a nomination for the Grammy Awards 2024. Composed and sung by Falguni and Gaurav Shah, the song aims to raise awareness about the nutritional value of millets.

Prime Minister Modi actively participated in the song, delivering a message about the importance of incorporating millets into daily life. The video garnered praise from PM Modi himself, who commended its creativity and expressed hope that it would inspire more people to embrace millets for a healthier lifestyle.

During the ‘World Food India 2023’ event, PM Modi emphasized that millets, known as ‘Sri Anna’ in India, would soon spread globally, drawing a parallel with the international popularity achieved by Yoga. He stated, “I believe that just as International Yoga Day took Yoga to every corner of the world, now Millets will also reach every corner of the world.”

Millets, referred to as Nutri-cereals, are small-seeded grasses known for their nutritional benefits. They are resilient and adaptable to various climates, making them a secure crop for small farmers, especially in hot and drought-prone environments. India is a producer of nine traditional millets, including Sorghum, Pearl Millet, Finger Millet, Foxtail Millet, Proso Millet, Little Millet, Barnyard Millet, Browntop Millet, and Kodo Millet.

The Grammy nomination for this millet-centric song featuring Prime Minister Modi reflects the growing recognition of initiatives promoting sustainable and healthy living.
