    Madhya Pradesh’s biggest South Indian festival `Thai Pongal Festival 2023′ on Jan 22

    Bhopal, 21st January 2023: The Bhopal Tamil Sangam (BTS) is organising Thai Pongal Festival 2023 on 22nd January 2023 , Sunday at Career College auditorium, Govindpura, BHEL, Bhopal. The event will start at 11 am. Pongal celebrations aimed at imparting the culture and tradition to the younger generation and sharing the festival with other communities in the State.

    Vishvas Kailash Sarang, Minister of Medical Education , Govt of Madhya Pradesh will be the chief guest , while K S Masthan, Minister for Minorities welfare and Tamil Welfare, Govt of Tamil Nadu will be the guest of honour for this mega event. M Agarchand , Chairperson , Lions Club , Vriddhachalam, Tamil Nadu.

    S Arul, President, Lions Club , J Chandrasekaran, A P Muthu Naraayanan and R Natesan , Lions Club , Vriddhachalam, Tamil Nadu will be in attendance to celebrate this unique cultural program from Tamil Nadu. Manish Rajoria , Chairman, Career College and D Subodh Singh, Chairman, NRI Group will be the special guest on the occasion.

    P Raju, President, A Swami Durai, General Secretary and executive members of Bhopal Tamil Sangam will coordinate the entire event along with executive members of Bhopal Tamil Sangam. Major attractions of the event would be exclusive song performance from Thiagarajan PRM of Chennai , India’s emerging talent in Kathak Swati Pillai Performance on Ganesh Vandana and Navdha Kathakalaya group performance , M.Lavanya’s group will perform traditional folk dance forms , Revathi Sastri’s group will perform Bharatanatyam and Sarita’s group will perform musical dance performance. The event starts at 11:00 am and will feature speeches by the Chief Guest, Guest of honour, Special Guests etc followed by Mementos and trophies shall be given to the participants and winners.

    P Raju, President, Bhopal Tamil Sangam said that this event is a great opportunity for all the members to stay connected with the grounds of festive traditions and culture. It is also a platform to spread the knowledge of traditions forward in this modern world.

    A Swami Durai, General Secretary, Bhopal Tamil Sangam said, “I hope the moment will be long cherished. We want to keep our grounds of culture traditions alive and so these events make it possible to spread knowledge to today’s generation.”

    “We may have settled here, but we haven’t forgotten our traditions. Almost all Tamilians in Bhopal celebrate Pongal the same way it is celebrated in Tamil Nadu,” A Sivakumar, Treasurer of Bhopal Tamil Sangam Said.

    ‘Thai Pongal’, as it is popularly called in Tamil Nadu, is a thanksgiving ceremony celebrated by Tamil farmers to thank the spirits of nature, the sun and farm animals for their assistance in providing a successful harvest all through the year. The festival is spread over four days, from the last day of ‘Margazhi’ to the third day of the following month ‘Thai’ as ‘Bhogi’, ‘Thai Pongal’, ‘Mattu Pongal’ and ‘Kannum Pongal’.

    BTS will also felicitate, acknowledge, and applaud the achievements of students who have excelled in academics and brought laurels to the society. Thai Pongal Festival 2023 will feature a mix of vibrant Tamil traditions and a unique cultural program. In an amazing setting, the experience of Pongal 2023 will be broadened by the numerous activities and a vast array of musical and cultural performances. Surroundings will be filled with modern and traditional melodies, by the talent of dancers and musicians.
